Preserving Our History Together

The Little Red Shop Museum Team

Three unique and interrelated groups worked closely together to see the Little Red Shop restoration project from its inception to the building’s complete rehabilitation: The Hopedale Historical Commission, the Red Shop Committee and the Friends of Historic Hopedale. Each group’s mission and membership is listed below.

Hopedale Historical Commission

Text Box: Mission:
Promote Hopedale’s rich history both within the local Hopedale community and the larger Blackstone Valley and greater Milford regions through avenues including – but not exclusive to -- the Little Red Shop Museum.
Goals:
Ensure continued recognition of Hopedale’s place in the region’s and nation’s history.
Determine appropriate means for disseminating Hopedale’s history to the community at large so residents understand the importance of sharing and preserving our town’s history for future generations.
Maintain Hopedale’s Little Red Shop Museum as a valuable community asset; ensure its ongoing accessibility to community.
Maintain strong ties to Red Shop Committee and Friends of Historic Hopedale so everyone is working toward the same end: ensuring recognition for Hopedale’s historic treasures.

Little Red Shop Museum Committee

Mission:

The five-member Red Shop Committee, working under the authority of the Hopedale Historical Commission:

· Provides day-to-day oversight of the Little Red Shop Museum

· Works directly with Little Red Shop Museum curator on formulating and implementing a strategic vision for the Museum

· Ensures accessibility for community to Museum through regularly scheduled hours, outreach to local schools and programs and exhibits that will encourage repeat visits

 Goals:

· Maintain active link between Little Red Shop Museum and the Hopedale community as well as the greater Blackstone Valley and greater Milford communities.

· Increase visits to Little Red Shop Museum by regularly assessing museum hours and peak periods; assessing displays, scheduling and planning for rotating artists and exhibits, working with local schools, participating in and offering up Red Shop as event and meeting locale, and use of media and social networking to promote same.

· Working with the Friends of Historic Hopedale, increase sales of historic Hopedale-related items so Museum will have good cash flow for expenses above and beyond annual town-provided budget.

Friends of Historic Hopedale

Mission:

· Raise funds and awareness for non-town-funded needs determined as pertinent by Historical Commission by sponsoring events and activities, membership drives and other efforts.

Goals:

· Raise monies through ongoing fundraising efforts that meet the goals and/or fiscal priorities set by the Historical Commission.

· Ensure a stream of available volunteers interested in Hopedale history who can help with ongoing fundraising efforts and other history-raising activities.
